Anyone know of any cheapish MKIII's?

My little brother turns 16 in July, and needs a car. And if I don't come up with something soon, he's going to be driving a ****ing Accord. I mean, come on, an Accord!?! A Civic, an Integra, sure, but an Accord...

Anyway, what I'm looking for is simple: An early MKIII 2.0, Golf or Jetta, it makes no difference. No autos, and it doesn't have to be perfect by any means.

Here's the catch. It needs to be priced just under 2500 bucks. I personally don't think this is a very hard catch, but apparently it is. Like I said, it doesn't have to be perfect by any means, just driveable, and not a total pile of ****.

Even just hitting autotrader or cars.com should be enough to find one of those. Mk3s started with the 93 model year so there ought to be some out there. $2,500 is a pretty good budget for one of those. I'll keep my eyes peeled for ya. :tu:

I'd sell my VR6 for 3400 Newman. New brakes, new tires, new water pump, thermostat, coilpack, wires, plugs. Just a thought. Needs heater core put in yet but would come with it.

It was a present from a friend since I hooked him up....

I have to get the Jetta in the shop to get some internal work done to fix the smoking issue, the main reason nobody wants it. But at 8500 you could hardly go wrong. Valve seals or piston rings, either way a rape in the a$$ for me.

No, my 96 is a VR6 but my 03 is a 1.8T. I'll let it go CHEAP if he wants it. I need to get rid of it due to personal reasons. Check the thread out on vortex - just needs the head reworked. I have no money to fix it right now. Mind you, there are no driveablility issues AT ALL with the car. Just a puff of smoke after idling. Needs the valve stem seals done. It doesn't even use a quart per 4500 mile change.

The chicago craigs list had a Rabbit Gti for $800 not too long ago. If he doesnt mind an older car thats what I would look into. I think it was an 84 and it said that it was a running daily driver. Probably has insanely high miles but with the saved money and a little PKG help mabye he can get a swap done.
