So I was wondering in my mkII what would happen if I ran out of windshield fluid is there a light or anything? I know in newer cars they have windshield fluid lights to let you know when your about to run out, Im asking cause there is no Windshield fluid in her at all and I'm just checking if that coolant light doesn't serve a multi purpose.

shut the fuck up.
And to h3roism I've never heard of anything like that. My bet is that the sensor in your coolant tank took a shit.

Try putting some wiper fluid in it, then if your coolant light goes out (unlikely) problem solved.

lets try to show a little respect for our fellow members. there are a lot of people out there new to vw and we would like them to feel welcome among our community. All of us had a time when we were new to cars or new to cars we cared about learning more about james. i am sure there are things this guy could school you in as well even if they have nothing to do with cars...
O.P. no there are no other functions of the coolant light than level and temp. Your mkII has no light for the washer fluid and is something you have to check during your regular maintenance. Don't be discouraged about asking questions on here as we are happy to try to help through anything you may be working on...
