One of my customers asked me to post her jetta for sale... it came in yesterday with a driveability issue...
Specs:
2001 VW Jetta GLX VR6
146k mi
Red
Auto
Leather seats
Alloys
Good:
Clean interior
Clean exterior
full inspection passed on all mechanicals (except one which we will get to)
Bad:
Has a bad ATF pump. reverse works great. all forward gears slip due to low pressure
this car would be great to fix up with a used trans or tear it apart and stick the vr in something else...
i do not own this car and i have no pics... if you are interested i can pass you on her contact info for you to see this car yourself...

Depends how you source the parts and if you do it yourself. Its really not that hard just need alot of little parts really. If you want the cruise to work and dont want a check engine light you need a different cluster as well as ecu.
If would be worth it for sure for a few of the people on here that have boosted vr's or plan to boost theres to pick it up and swap over there 02j and than put an 02m in the boosted car.

This is true for a TipTronic, however a 4 speed (according to Kleiner) will bolt right up with few changes in parts (you'll still need the little things like linkage + shift tower, shift counterweight, axles, etc.). He said it's because for the speedo, ECU, and several other things for the TipTronic, it had to run through the TCM, but the 4 speed auto doesn't run all of that through the TCM. Again, I'm just channeling what Mike had told me a while back, but if this is a 4 speed (which I think 2001 a GLX was but could be wrong) you might have much better luck and a lot less hassle with a manual swap.

it is a 4 speed... but i believe she may have decided to trade it for a 2010 Jetta for a trade value of $2900

Really can't argue with that lol...I'm sure that dealership will just sell that car at an auction, lose a little margin on the jetta if at all, and some lucky owner will get that car for a bit.
