The Bi-State Volkswagen Club (http://home.mchsi.com/~bistatevw/index.htm) is based in the Quad Cities area (with a Central Iowa chapter). They are a non-profit club that was formed to encourage and promote VW driving, restoration and all around Volkswagen FUN. The Bi-State club is mostly air cooled and vintage VWs so I think it would be fun to hang out with these guys. I have been talking with one of their members, Ross Lewis, and he is really fired up about meeting the Projekt German crew.

This Saturday they are hosting a garage tour and cruise that begins at 10am and ends at Porky's at 4pm. The garages they are visiting are actual Bi-State members' garages. I figured we could participate in this cruise and then end the day at chuNknorris' BBQ at his house, since he lives a couple of blocks away from Porky's.

Here is the route for the cruise:

Urbandale, IA
:: Todd Walker will help us get organized!!

2PM - Eric Larson's Garage

Des Moines, IA 50310

:: The VWs are taking over the lot!!!

All times/stops are subject to change (please call if joining the tour late).
Also, Ross has asked that we call and let him know how many PKG members will be attending because they plan on grilling out for everyone at noon. I can contact Ross once we have a list together.

After Porky's we can all retire to chuNk's house (http://forums.projektgerman.com/showthread.php?t=1240) for more grilled goodness and a free kegger. ;)

I'm not going on the cruise right now, being that it's raining outside. What I do later on depends on the weather.

Better bring a flashlight so you can see your speedo :)

If this wasn't a ways away from me I'd go (normally I'd be down but gas prices, ick)

Well, I ended up going to this cruise around 11am and just got back home now. The Bi-State guys were really cool and seeing all the air-cooled Beetles was awesome. It would be great for the whole club (PKG) to get together with these guys some time. :tu:

I will be the first to admit that I don't know much about the air cooled stuff, but I definitely have respect for it :tu: I would love to meet up with them sometime in the future.
