Asking price: $3000 OBO

IT BLEW THE MOTOR LAST FALL. Still starts and runs, but does an AWESOME imitation of a mosquito fogger. So.........now it is a project car for someone else since I don't have time to f*** with it. Good engine swap candidate. If I had time I gave thought to swapping in a VR just to be different.

I decided if it doesn't sell in the next month or so it gets parted out. Sadly I think it is worth more parted than whole.

Known Issues:
check engine light is on. Because of deleted sai, n249 and evap system. These systems do not affect driving and I deleted them to clean up the engine bay.

Exterior imperfections/damage: Well, the car is 10 years old and has spent half of its life outdoors, so paint is faded. There are a few small dents and dings. Shallow dent in driver side rear door. Paint chips above windshield and on front of hood. Paint on the front bumper is peeling from respray done 4 years ago. Car could really use a respray, but I don't want to spend that kind of money.

Interior imperfections/damage:
It did have a broken door latch which was making opening the back door hard, new latch installed and all is well!

i may be interested at perhaps the 2k price tag? I sold the one i had previously needing nothing with light mods for 4500 i believe i may have even done 4000 cant remember. It starts and drives just blows shit tons of smoke correct? Knock or anything?

To answer all the above:
3k with blown engine, ya for THE WHOLE CAR plus the extra parts. I gave $4500 for the car 6 months ago, I'm not going to just give it away. How it blew not entirely sure. Driving to Newton, cruising at 65, oil light came on, car started sputtering, limped it back to Altoona and by the time I got back home it looked like a mosquito fogger. Doesn't knock, oil light on, and makes a loud obnoxious squeal like metal on metal.

See here's the thing, if I don't sell it as is, it goes inside the shop and comes out in pieces. Quite frankly I think it is worth more parted than whole. Either way, I really don't care how it leaves here, as long as it leaves and I can recoup a good part of my investment. I figure this is for someone who might have wrecked their Mk4 and has a good drivetrain and crappy/wrecked body.

Since I actually have some free time this weekend I'm going to dive into it and see what I find. I have a spare turbo here I could throw on if thats what it turns out to be. And if that's truly the case, price goes back up to what it was when I was trying to sell it before winter..

Swapping a turbo on the FWD 1.8T is kind of a bitch. I did one at work a month or so ago and even with a hoist it takes some time.

Our early attempts at a tractor beam went through several preparations. Preparations A through G were a complete failure. But now, ladies and gentlemen, we finally have a working tractor beam, which we shall call...Preparation H.

Travis and I did the turbo on my current GTi. Its not that bad once you figure out how things come out the RIGHT way.

alot of the work from underneath? its 4 bolts from the bottom on the downpipe. and the return line... not that hard?

thats what i was thinking.. granted it took me nearly 8 hours not knowing where any bolts were and scrambling through the shop to find tools. i destroyed a heatshield in the process of getting the turbo off the manifold, and getting the cooling/oil lines back on was a bit of a pain.

lets just hope she didn't burn enough oil to starve the rest of the engine...

good luck :)
