Just want to say what's up to everyone and show off new to me my B5. I'm not a noob when it comes to vw's or cars in general, This is my 5th vw and probably not the last. Just purchased it last week and there is some things i need to do to it like get some new headlights because the ones that are on are yellowish. Tell me what you think and see you around more often. Sirrangealot pointed me to this website .BTW my name is Damir

Welcome to the site and nice B5

You could pop those headlights apart and do a light sand and buff on them to get that yellow out. In the Mk4 DIY section on vortex there is a writeup :tu:

Actually, on my brother's girlfriend's car, her headlights were yellowish. Her car was white so it looked like someone freshly urinated on them after they ate a bottle of multi-vitamins 2 hours prior.

I just used polish (anthem brand, all liquid polishes are probably the same)

I did about 3 applications to each (wax-on, wax-off stylez)

And they turned out to be 90% clear again. If I had a high speed polisher it probably would have removed that extra discoloration, but I'm lazy, so that's what she gets. All-in all it took maybe 15 minutes and they looked alot better.

BTW welcome to PKG! Make yourself at home.

Soooo... i tried sanding the light and made it way worse than it already is lol. The lights i have on now looks like they are $100 ebay cheepos clear lights because you can tell that they are not original and they look cheep so when i get some extra money I'll get me some nice projector lights, well at least i tried, this weekend i'm gonna install a cd player and i have a pair of old jl's that i can throw in.

angel eyes ftw!

I wish I could get angel eyes...but the pin connectors are different, and I don't feel like shelling out $450 for a new headlight assembly!! (It's had a moisture leak on the passenger side since I bought it almost 2 years ago.)

As soon as i get done moving out and come around some extra cash i'll be all over those but still not sure if i should go with black or chrome, what do you guys think.

SirRangeALot
05-18-2007, 09:20 AM
I vote for chrome. I don't think the black will flow with the rest of the car even though your lowers are black.

mmmm, i would be leery about buying those. Do some research first. I have heard that ebay tails and projectors aren't sealed well at all, and moisture will get inside. I don't have experience with them, but I wouldn't buy them.

Yea i will do some search because it's better to be safe than sorry and i dont want to be in need for lights in a couple months.

Damir - I'm in the IRS dept/government services building by that big CBE Group tower. If I meet up with you I'll take a look at your headlights... normally a hazy headlight can be fixed with some Mother's Mag&Aluminum Polish, a rag and some elbow grease ;)

GetAwayFromMe

Sure man we can do that sometime this weekend or during the week. I work 3rd shift so i'm free all afternoon pm me or something and we'll see.

You can always silicone the seals in cheap headlights to seal them better... But personally I've seen the chrome "plating" by the bulb, etc, dissolve in the sunlight. Seriously, OEM is the way to go, or HELLA brand, it's all OEM.

SirRangeALot

They certainly aren't cheap, but then again, just one of my headlight assemblies is $450. :knockout: :knockout:

These don't look bad at all and they are manufacted by depo wich is a decent brand and they are about $270 shipped so the price is not that bad. I think that i will get those soon.

and iowaboostin, when you moving out? :D

Heading out around June 25th.

GetAwayFromMe -- just be cautious with non-OEM/eBay headlights, nothing close to OEM quality. at the very least re-silicone all the seals to make sure you don't get a big condensation build-up.
