View Full Version : Sound "enhancer"

I'm sure this is standard on all MKVs, but I was wondering if it can be turned off.
When I turn up the volume, the sound would get crappy (like staticky), and after a second or two, it "fixes" itself so it's not so staticky and unclear. I realize that this only improves the sound quality, but it also reduces the volume, even though my volume is up all the way.
Anyone know what I'm talking about or should I keep trying to explain the phenomenon?
I have premium sound system.

Sounds like something's defective, because even a crappy $50 deck should not do that... maybe talk to the dealership and see if they have heard that before. Or they might think you're :knockout:

Or they will say its " in spec" :dunno: I would take it to the dealer and see what they have to say

some BMWs do the same thing...it is to keep from blowing your speakers...

its nothing defective, its a "feature" to help with the sound clarity, but I was just wondering if anyone has idea how to turn it off. and its not speed volume either.

Are you coming to the Tint and TAT gtg? I can check it for you. The Vag Com can actually test each speaker and modify the radio...you might have the clipping that is there from the factory to protect the speakers.

Geeze, I bet VW would have made a bunch of $$$ if they owned ross-tech before the mkV's came out... Seems like those things are as important as the steering wheel in those things. Cool though.

You can do some setting adjusting that the dealership can't do with the vag com though.
