I'm going to buy a GPS tonight choices are down I wanna sort of stay on budget so here's my choices.

Garmin C330: http://www.wondersnevercease.com/things_unique/garmin/garm_c330-1.jpg

The thing is the garmin is cheaper, and it has more POI's and phone numbers for the POI's. The tomtom has more routing options and downloadable voices and silly crap like that, brighter screen smaller size. I like the compactness of the tomtom and the advanced routing options but I really like the phone numbers and bulkier POI list with the garmin... I can't decide so you get to for me!

I voted Garmin only because I have a nüvi and love it. A bit larger than a deck of cards. Works great, lots a waypoints and other cool stuff. I stick it in the upper left hand corner of my windshield.

I need this to help me find houses... yeah that's it!! :D The votes are tied oh what ever will i do!

Despite the crazy size, I really like my Garmin. Especially in your situation, the POI would help being that you dont know whats around, let alone where it is.
I like the garmins' poi's too. The tomtom ones just got updated recently and it has a lot now too but it doesn't list phone numbers which is kind of important to me.
The garmin is like 230$ and the tomtom is 299$

Yea phone #'s have come in handy for me. You can also program your own POI's and download them (at least of the 530 you can)

c330. 340 adds traffic updates for $100 more.
Best Buy has the c330 on sale this week for $300. Great if your a Rewards Zone member.
My friend has the 330 and I plan on buying it or the 340 for the wife. Very nice unit.
Of course you can find it cheaper online

CARPUTER GPS FTW!!!!!!
but if you had to go with any of these i would go with the tomtom....i have heard really really good reviews with the actual GPS and routing information...
so i would go the carputer route....but seeing as you are very anxious....i would go with the tomtom and keep it in real good condition (i know you would anyway) and just sell it when you get your screen and stuff in....
Garmin it is. The votes have spoken. Thanks guys!!

My friend has the tom tom and says it's the shizzle. So I gotta say tom tom

But the double-din carputer with windows is a better all-around pick :D
Dammit now it's tied again.

Do you just need the gps for an upcoming trip? I would save that $ towards the carputer.. But do what you want, just my 2 cents. That display costs $600 but is the best display for a carputer that I have found so far :tu:
I just want one to have now, because I get lost alot in des moines and surrounding areas, when I'm closer to my carpc stage i'm gonna sell this to my dad :)

Good stuff... sorry my vote tied it up. Garmin is the original citizen gps so I would go with the one that seems easiest to use and lowest cost for updating your maps (unless it's free no matter what)

i voted garmin, because since i used to work at best buy and in the car audio dept i would always play with the gps when i was bored and i found the c330 was really easy to use
I bought the garmin, my camera battery is dead but i'm pretty pleased with it, now i just need reasons to go to more places haha. I did use it to get me taco johns on the way back from chris and lorri's.
oh yeah, so i called earlier and he's all like yeah the c330 is on sale for 229$ so I get there and it's 298$ but it all worked out, I traded my ds lite and games to a guy at work and he just bought me the garmin. I still owe him like 99$ but woohoo.
Thanks a ton for all the input everybody!
