Kelso and I installed his short shifter today on his Jetta. Was quite a learning experience. Took about 2 hours, toughest part was all the adjusting for the side to side movement. Overall its a pretty significant change over stock. Much more sport-like. Enjoy the pics!

Nice, the DG shorty is the best by far for the MKIII. I hope to get one soon too. Thanks for the writeup!

Yay now that I have fricken internet, I can see these!! The shifter looks awesome, I was wondering how much that shifter was too, the TT shifter looks more like the stock one but it's lighter and has a 20% reduction...

How far did that one end up reducing it about?

Sorry I missed the install, I slept then decided i needed new spark plugs and crab legs.

Not sure on price... It says reduction of 30%, but to us it felt like a much more significant change than that. However, it will need to be readjusted in about a week, so we'll see then how it is.

Looks like the cost is around $195 + shipping. And they started making them for the MK5 platform! I've seen some feature cars in eurotuner that have the dieselgeek short shifters.

Now I'm a little curious, how do you adjust it? The cable length is fixed I thought.

Yeah the actual cables are a set length. The adjustments are all made in those CNC'd aluminum parts with all the screws/allens. You have to position it just right on the cable. It was a whole method of having to lock the shift lever into a neutral position, then get under the hood and adjust the bracket on the cable. We found that too far forward meant no side to side for 1 or 2, and too far back on the cable meant no side to side for 5th. All in all it made tons of sense once we had our hands on it and adjusting. Not nearly as difficult as i probably made it sound

I see, with 2 people that know what they're doing it should jsut be a pain to change out the position and be patient... So was $200 your price or did you get it cheaper?? I have only seen them for sale at their website..
