View Full Version : Tinted & Cleaned Up..

welp, tinted the GTI today (20%) and cleaned it up a little bit.. didn't get a chance to buff and wax and all that good stuff, but at least got to detail wipe it down a bit and shine the wheels up.

also threw some vinyl in there :D (the eurotrash and fast was already there, we did that a week or so ago.. just did the PKG vinyl today.)

it's in bad need of some coils, smoked side markers and whatnot, and different tails.. for now anyway. :D

looks great except for the vinyl! Not my thing, but to each their own. Tint looks great too. I gotta get my GTI tinted soon.

i wouldn't have done it in any other color than matte black.. it's subtle as i can make it.. but i love the fast face, bwah. some hate it, some like it.

I could have given you the PKG logo file if I'd known what you were doing. ;)

Not to keen on the side vinyl though. I just don't like body graphics myself.

all of my tint and vinyl is done by me and my other half.. he does that stuff for a living so we can work on side projects (for free.. ahem, well, at the cost of the place, bwaha..) whenever we have time.

Well, if you ever want to redo your windshield vinyl with the actual PKG logo, let me know and I can get it to you.

That's awesome that you guys have access to that stuff though. I can see some future projects cropping up... :D

yeah, it's my daily driver.. so for the time being (and while i'm paying off a large chunk of the loan), nothing too crazy with performance upgrades.. while i do plan to get some coilovers, and do a black/blue layout all over the car (smoked tailights, side markers, etc). For now, I enjoy the wheels. They're not too OEM lame for me to deal with for the time being.

I wouldn't call it defacing, I call it giving it a subtle touch that I enjoy. Had I done it in lazer lemon and flames and zigzag doodahs in every rainbow color yeah, that would have been defacing and degrading it. Some may like it, some don't. You could have left your comment at "clean car" and held your tongue, or even, "i don't dig the vinyl", but those are the kind of comments (ie words like defacing, that stand for ruining or destroying) that make me stay away from any kind of socialization with automotive groups or anything for that matter. I'm not afraid to do what I want to my car, unorthodox as it may be, and don't care what much of anyone thinks, but I do care when unneeded bashful comments are made. I would have hoped this kind of attitude would have been left out or at least held behind teeth in such a small community and seemingly close auto group, and really is disappointing.

That's just my two cents.

This was uncalled for.:td: There is absolutely no reason to be so harsh. You do what you want to your car and no one gives you a rash of s**t if they don't like it. I think in the future you should choose your words more carefully.


Abby apologizes for the few boys on here that have no tacked. Please don't let this steer you away from this site. PKG is full of good people:D

I think ur right about doing it very subtle, works well that way. Just dont go mounting a PS2 screen under ur airbag like that Honda we saw at the VEISHEA car show, the same car that had tail lights from the future.

My only concern with your vinyl is the problems you might have if you ever take it off. I hope it doesn't fade your paint since your car is a darker color.

Wow, has anyone ever heard the term sticks and stones? Beave had an opinion and he expressed it, and I would have to agree with him. There is nothing against anyone here, we chose to voice our opinion on how we hate vinyl, especially on a perfectly clean GTI. I am also with Dubwalkn, how long do you plan to leave the stickers on the car? One or two winters and summers is going to fade the paint around it and then when you take it off you will have a nice shiny fast and faded paint everywhere else.

IMO, everyone is welcome to voice their opinions. I was just letting wallride know that it was nothing personal.

Truthfully, I hate vinyl just as much as you, Chad. I liked Abby's car much better without the side graphics, but hey, that's why I'm building my car, right? lol

Haha, yah I found that on another forum. I hate vinyl as much as I hate emos. LOL, that's all I was saying too mike, to each their own, but it'd be a hella clean car without it :)
