Bump, got an offer from a local junk yard for 1900. Id rather see this thing on the road than in parts its to nice.

You can probably have it transported for 5 600 hundred dollars. i think i have it sold though well see monday.

How much does a used (or to rebuild an) engine cost for a 7 series anyhow? There probably aren't too many e38 donor cars out there...

Around 3k for an used motor from a random vendor. Could probably find one a lot cheaper from someone parting out one i would guess. For the price you would spend to get an engine and get it installed by a shop you would be able to buy a running one. This car is good for someone who wants to tackle it on their own to save on labor and maybe even rebuild the curent one for less.

Nor really worth it to buy a junk yard motor and have a shop install it.
