Looks good :tu: On top of removing the plate frames maybe paint the plate bracket body color? My suggestions (just an opinion) would be clear front bumper markers, suspension and wheels would be a really nice start :word: Oh yeah, and maybe paint the lower half of your rear bumper body color as well.

Tried taking the plate frames off. Took the stuff that says "Dick Witham" on them, but there is that black holding "platform" (plate bracket?) on the front which seems to be attached to the bumper itself. And what I found out is that the assholes used too long screws and it went straight through my paint and bumpers. Both front and end ones.
I'll see about painting it - if I manage to take it off without breaking anything.
For now, I'm planing to tint it. When more money comes in, it's gonna be suspension and new wheels. I'm gonna keep this bunny at least 10 years, so I'm not in a hurry to do anything. :D

Looks good, sinan!
IMO, ditch the plate frame entirely, ziptie the bish onto your lower grill or something. Also if you're tinting your windows then pick up a can of VHT Nite Shades (~$10) which is a spray tint (hardly anymore technique involved than spray paint) and shoot your markers. The black/black contrast between them would look sharp.

that's the problem. I can't get rid of the black licence plate holder up front. Looks like it came like that from the factory and it's "bolted" with plastic screws that I would have to rip off (or snap off).. I'd be more than happy to do it if I can. Maybe some of the guys this saturday at the R32 GTG can help me.

Looks clean! As usacjudge said, do this stuff:
-paint lower valences
-get clear side markers
-lower car

i found clear side markers. even smoked ones. but i'll get them later. I have this interrest rate to deal with at the bank first...when I get that out of the way, mods are coming...slooowly. :D

Sweet, I would go clear unless you plan on joey-modding the headlights, then smoked may look better. Find a friend that can paint the valences for you.... the rear bumper looks a lil minivan-ish

Yeah go for the clear, I love them on my car. Granted I'm a Passat but it still made the car look that much better. I also need to paint the lower area on my car. Must be something new VW is doing on the newer cars that I don't get. :dunno: Geeze does it really cost that much more just to paint it all the same color.

I hate the lower valances on my car too. I would like to paint mine but that will be down the road. The front plate holder is plastic riveted to the bumper. If you take it off there are like six holes there...pretty crazy.

See thats another thing. I might order some smoked tail lights, and then maybe front lights too...so I don't know yet if I want clear or smoked side markers.

They have Rabbits with ground effects that look kinda like GTI minus the GTI grille. I've seen one in DSM for $19K. When I think about it, I should have gotten that one. But it was two door, and I plan on being a family man in the near future, so I went for four door. :D

So if I took the plate holder, I'd have visible holes? Could I still mount the license plate though? (that would cover 'em probably)

What morons idea was it to rivet the plate frame into the front of the bumper? Normally those plates are just bolted below the bumper and then elbow up. Sinan -- saturday I'll be doing my own suspension, not sure exactly how long it'll take me but give me a call when you get back from the GTG :tu:

No kidding, you would think that they would be reading these websites, vortex for sure, and see that everyone is painting them. I wish mine were, haven't really looked into it yet, someday.:tu:

Im keeping my front plate holder on, I'd rather not mount my plate directly to the paint and scrape up the front bumper. Granted I have a black rabbit so the plate holder blends in well.
Im thinking of getting the color matched side markers and smoked side mirror turn signal covers. Would that Night Shade stuff really hold up in adverse weather?

I tinted the taillights on one of my old DSMs and it had held up for the ~2yrs I had it before selling.

vht nightshade? I tinted my tails of the diamante with it...
very very light sand
wipe down
1-2 layers of vht, the more, the darker obviously
3 layers of high gloss clear coat
it turned out very well, and is as durable as the paint

Spray-on tint, available online for around $20 shipped for a can.
One can is enough for tails, and some clear blinkers to be smoked...

Here's a pic of someone starting to paint the lower portion on their Passat. Looks much better. I put a pic of mine up showing the black portion.
