Hey guys -

A friend of mine from MN and I are going to the Chicago Auto Show (www.chicagoautoshow.com) on Sunday Feb. 12th and staying the night. Plans are still in the works but we are planning on a meeting around the Iowa City area with a couple other guys from Audizine to caravan over. Who wants to come?!

I'm still waiting to hear on how many guys are going but I will keep this thread updated. We are going to stay at the Congress Plaza Hotel (www.congressplazahotel.com) - I looked up the rates and it will be $110 for 2 Adults and 2 beds. It is 2 miles north of the McCormick Place

There is also the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place but they are asking over $200 a night - a bit to much for one night IMO.

Anyway post up if you guys are interested in going. Once we have a set number we'll find a place to meet on Saturday morning near 80E to caravan over.

The price I posted for the hotel was for 2 adults and 2 beds 1 room at Congress Plaza Hotel.

if someone knows a good meeting spot just outside of IC on 80E that would be bitchin'... that way i can tell the guys on AZ where to meet.

i go to the show every year, however i refuse to go on a weekend anymore, its just too packed:td:

for the past two years i drive in on a sunday and go to the show first thing monday morning when the show floor is completly empty. then you can actually get some outstanding photos such as these...

and as far as admission...its $10 bux, but if you know where to look, you can get in for free, there are alot of local companies that sponsor the show and hand out free tickets :tu:

its already the largest autoshow in the world, and it gets bigger this year. i think this year they added another 30,000 sq feet, and for 2008, they're going to also spread into the new west building, and it will occupy the main floors of all 3 buildings. this year and 2008 will be huge in terms of new car launches and new car makes comming back from europe. its gonna be great!

id rather go on a less busy day as well but i have a lot of classes on mondays so ill have to see whats going on durring my classes whenever we decide to go

I'm planning on being prepared enough ahead of time so i can afford to skip them....

yeah same here, but i plan for it well in advance, i make sure that i'm clear with my instructors weeks before. trust me on this one, the show is MUCH more enjoyable on a weekday for a serious car enthusiasts, you dont have to deal with tripping over strollers, or wait to get inside a car. plus as i said earlier, the photo opps are fantastic, at 8am that floor is all yours. its fantastic.

i will be staying at the hyatt there in the complex, i usually get a deicent rate at about $180 and split it between a few friends, and total we usually dont spend more than $200 for the weekend. if any of you guys are intrested in going along the same dates as i am, that would be great.

i look forward for this show all year, plus its the same week as my birthday, so of course i gotta celebrate and have a good time! what better place than chicago? :D

Yep I am definitely still going.

I'm leaving on sunday, probably checking out the show a bit on sunday (depending on when we get there) and definitely monday, probably drive back monday evening.

I don't know the area too well but if someone wants to pick a meeting point we can all caravan over on sunday.

I updated my original post to let everyone know that we are leaving on Sunday. Gee Tea Eye V can you update the poll so it says Sunday the 12th?

It will be worth it to stay Sunday night and check out the show on Monday. I really don't want to have to wait in line to see a car :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

i am leaving saturday afternoon, and staying untill monday. i'm gonna hang out in chicago all day sunday (since its my birthday:finger: ), but i'm not going to the show that day, because it will just be TOO packed :td:

i'll go to the show first thing monday morning when the floor is empty, that is the best time to do it, hands down!!! i made my reservations at the Hyatt that is attached to the complex, and i got my room for under $150, and i'm gonna split that with my buddy and anyone else that wants to come with us. its a little expensive, but i figure once you deal with parking and all that, its worth it just to be able to park at the complex, and just take the elevator downstairs and walk into the show :D

so if any of you guys have time or your schedules allow, i very highly recommend attending with me on monday morning, its the best for photo opps, you dont be tripping over people and strollers, or waiting in a huge line just to look inside a car.

K.. well i'll just change the title so the date's correct for Saturday. I'd be interested in going but my g/f is leaving the next weekend, so chances are we'll be doing something for Valentine's day the weekend of the show :(

i'll be there! i'll prolly go in on sunday night after 6 pm as a preview since the crowds will start to filter out, then i'll be back on the floor monday morning at 8 am :D
