Alright, some of you have seen my coche and some haven't. Currently, it's sitting Stage I APR and that's it.

Here it is, at the track...bone stock with the dealer plates, like 2 weeks after purchase:

Here's my timeslips from that trip:

I'm car 6993. Yes, according to the CFR timer, I ran a 12.239.:D
I've been Stage I since late April/early May when I visited Andy (Dubtuner) and awoke the beast.
Anywho, now I'm looking to get moar GO! before I get moar low.
So, I'm looking to add:
DPI-made custom turbo-back with and without cats.
Devil's Own H20/Meth kit
Forge Twintake (if they ever friggin' release it for the MKVI!! )
Stage 2 APR tune upgrades
Also want to add a boost gauge, and the Forge spacer for the diverter valve, so it's got some blow-off and some-recirc.
Wondering which boost gauge is "best", though. ????
for shits and giggles, here's some vids of me this last Memorial Day weekend in Kansas City at my old vehicle's Nationals:

We'll have to get together after your latest round of moar go, and maybe we can get some of the other TexAgs Iowans to join.

Wow...I guess I didn't realize that were that fast. Especially since it's so close to stock. Unless a stage 1 apr tune does a lot?

Oh, it didn't run 12.239....it was a piece of the car I ran against that broke my lights before I went through. Notice there isn't any MPH listed. It broke the timer lights, but not the second ones that allow it to figure speed.
Dude I ran against shattered his driveshaft and rear diff...his driveshaft went spinning through my lane and through my light.
But, everyone always wants to see timeslips to "prove" a time. I've got a legit timeslip. ;-)

Trailblazer SS....Overweight of a pig SUV with shitty brakes and sub-par suspension coupled to a V8 with less technology than carpet sample... Go find a corner to hustle thru and watch him roll (body or entire vehicle)
Anyways, end rant
I love that color as well. Needs more LOW!
BTW, Trailblazer SS....Funny shit man... Gotta love the owners that think theyre king shit for owning one too

I loved mine, spanked a lot of "fast" cars, too. Never thought it was the fastest, though. There's always someone/something faster.
Never had brake issues, of course I had big slotted/drilled rotors with ceramic pads. Suspension was air-bags and K-Bee adjustable coilovers I put on. Handled well. But yeah, it's not meant for the twisties in stock form, fo' sho'. But, they're meant for straight lines, like most muscle/fast cars.
I just got bored and wanted something different. I'd say going from 550hp AWD truck -> 200hp FWD hatchback is pretty "different". I love the GTI, it's quick and agile...all the while getting better than the 8mpg I got before. Win-Win!

When I said shitty brakes I meant it doesn't stop well for a "performance vehicle". I blame it on weight.
Add power to a vehicle and it goes fast in a straight line. Adding lightness makes a vehicle go faster, EVERYWHERE...It's pretty obvious that SS are straight line performers and them trying to get into any other niche just makes them look ignorant
Any redneck idiot can "mash the loud pedal" and go fast in a straight line, evenmore so when it's an automatic, simple as that. Twisties is where it's at..... LOL at fo 'sho'.....
I'm not saying that Blazer SS aren't cool for what they are. But that whole vehicle type in general is very.....what's the word...."pointless", I think comes to mind
Don't get me wrong I'd rock a Chayenne Turbo or something similar, but as an enthusiast type of car the genre just doesn't "fit in well" anywhere...Wether it be the pullers, the draggers, the drifters, or the carvers....IT's fairly mediocre at best at ALL of those things...Oh well, different hoes for different joes.
BTW, I'm Dan. The local "knows-it all" opinionated ass-hole in the club. Hope to see you around sometime. Welcome to PKG

I just wish they made an AWD version of the GTI, as in with turbos. (Not taking anything away from the R32s) Easier to get moar power from something boosted than NA and with AWD, you could really launch it.

I had a little something thrown into the engine compartment today, in Dubuque. Wanna see what it is?

And, my god-like controller and power switch:

I was also going to get Joe @ DPI to do the exhaust (turbo-back) but ran out of time and also didn't have a part he needs. So, that's slated for the weekend, along with upping to the APR Stage2 tune. I already bumped up the Stage1 to the 100octane tune. Noticed more power, but nothing gut-wrenching. Also waiting on the Forge Twintake for the MkVI to come out at the end of the month, too. That and the diverter spacer and a catch can and a 750+hp (overkill, be my name) diverter valve Andy found today. HAHAHA.
Then, all that's left is throwing on a T88 or something bigger.....or not.
Big ups to Andy (Dubtuner). He made it all pretty and figured out all the weird things those Germans did differently than Kaleb's. Performance Tuning FTMFW!

Hey Andy, was there that much of a difference than my car? I also didn't notice a massive gain when we got mine put in either, but then again with my car as the power went up, the tire size kept reducing for fitment reasons.
Dubtuner
09-16-2010, 09:17 AM
I didn't really have a before and after feel for it. I think part of the reason the gains don't feel as drastic is the fact the stock intercooler does a much better job than say a 18t. Also the fact tractions always an issue doesn't help any. Also thanks rob it was my pleasure and ill keep ya posted as soon as anything else comes in.

Look at those sexy stainless steel screws that held the pump on so nicely... I wonder who picked those out??? If I was you I wouldn't change the diverter valve if its verson "G" which it should be, its the best one out there better than the aftermarket ones and doesn't need maintenance or break/tear like others just food for thought.

Yeah, I wasn't going to change DV's but Andy showed me one he found online that was used on some 750+ hp Porsche project cars and I was like "OH, HELL YEAH!".
That would be the ONLY one I'd change out for, assuming I have the latest version, which I will find out soon.
And, good looking out on those screws. Thing looks like it should have been there from the factory.

Andy, do the VW ECU's learn (or "re-learn") the fuel/air trims?
It may be just my butt dyno sensor being extra sensitive, but today when driving around it was a tad more powerful than it was on the way back yesterday. 2nd gear felt a good bit more oomphy, to make up a word. Third did, too.
????? Not complaining, just wondering. I know GM ECM's will learn over several cold-starts, and adjust themselves, wondering if Dubs do too.

93 vs. 100 octane mode in my 1.8T was a huge difference...of course I was running leaded race gas but the water/meth should run even more powerful than that with the cooler intake temps. Of course, the 93 mode for a 2.0T is more powerful by far than that of the 1.8T

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6NkgqA2pz4
Andy came by and added the Forge diverter spacer (makes it like half BOV and half DV)....Man! It's loud as shit with 100oct tune! :D
Joe, at DPI in Dubuque (along with some help from his big bro, Ted), did the exhaust work. I must say, his welding skills are second to none. Period. The welds looked like they had been ground down...yet, they weren't. That's how tight his welds were. All in all, EXCELLENT job, it sounds good and is built awesomely.
The only thing is...it sounds faster than it is! HAHAHAHAHA
At first, I thought it had lost some oomph...but, after really listening past the awesome sound, I was able to see/feel the difference. It just sounds so damned awesome and fast, it makes you think it's going faster than you actually are.

Got the APR Stage 2+ tune thrown in today....big ups to Andy (Dubtuner). BTW, Andy, read on the MK6 forum...someone just had internet issues, and it "fried" the ECU. APR says it's only "locked out" and they're fixing it...but good thing you didn't keep pushing it the other day, huh? ;)
Anywho, it's running really strong now. I can tell higher psi/quicker boost in (seemingly) all gears now. I think I might have lost a VERY small bit of off-the-line oomph from the exhaust, but gained more in the middle and up top, which is more important in a FWD. Now, I'm just waiting on the Forge Twintake to arrive, hopefully next week. Getting a Eurojet boost gauge, Newsouth gauge pod for the left AC vent, and catch can, too.
I got 33mpg on the trip to/from DBQ, avg'ing about 70-75mph the whole way.
Will report back soon with some more info....PEACE!

Well, ran the washer res nearly dry after 860 miles (just past Dallas). Luckily, I had a jug of methanol and two jugs of fluid in the back. :D
I seriously think the ECU relearns trims and such after tuning, or any mod(s) that affect air/fuel ratios and timing. It feels a little more powerful than it even did yesterday. I also saw Hatchback on the way to DSM really early this morning. Saw a GTI in the darkness, then saw the Aggie bling on the hatch. :)

On another note, on my trip to San Antonio and back, I averaged several tanks of 35.8-35.9mpg. All while going over the speed limit, too. Total average for the entire trip, along with city driving (BIG city driving, at that), was 32.04. All were verified by calculations, too, not just the computer-generated information on the info center.

I see it, luckily I'm doing only 65 (speed limit) and I slam on the brakes and swerve. Thankfully, it's a GTI and not my Silverado. Cleaned the Twintake filters out Friday.
The main one was a little dirty, not too bad after 24k-ish. The side filter had almost nothing.
Changed the plugs today, NGK Iridium OEM replacements gapped to .032.
33,850 miles on originals:

Drove around on the 100* tune for about an hour to make sure nothing threw a code or anything. Definitely cleaned up the sound a little bit. I had been noticing that on accelerator release, a lot of burbling (like the DSG farts, I guess). Post-change, it's a LOT less prominent. At one point, I was accidentally (honestly) doing ...well, more than the speed limit...:D. Looked down after needing to pass someone, and was like "Oh shit....".
So, better acceleration, even in 6th. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Yeah, several trips to and from SA will do that.
Not one hiccup, though, save for the TB last June taking a dump. Fixed under warranty, so....
I want to do a double injection of meth, now. One pre-TB in the BSH pipe and one in the TB spacer from USRT I have. I know on a single shot, a lot of the guys shooting meth in the spacers are doing a D01, do you think both of the injectors being a D01 would be okay?
I also want some suspension stuff. Not "low", maybe a tad, more for handling. Like a nice swaybar and springs, maybe?
And, a new set of 17" rims. I want to stay with 17's for less rotating mass, and I have a pretty new set of Conti ExtremeContact DWS, so I won't have to buy new tires.
Any suggestions for rims?
Loud&Clear
03-25-2012, 10:36 PM
What current nozzle are you running? Per my comments in Dan's thread, i would be a little cautious where you run your nozzles and how much you dump. I would say probably a DO1 is good in the bsh pipe, but i would run the DO075 on the TB. The distance for DO1 is good to give time to atomize, and the smaller DO075 should atomize faster since it will be a finer mist. As mods get added, you can easily bump up the nozzle sizes.
You're never really going to get stock suspension to handle like you want. When i started my adventure, i never really looked into springs since i felt like it would be a waste in money since I would eventually go to coils. I loved my ksports coils even before we spun them down all of the way. They were stiff in the corners, but not too jarring around town/highway. I believe at full height they are only 1 1/2 inches shorter than stock too (don't quote me on this since we never had them all the way up)
As for a rear sway bar, i have read good things about the BSH one. With whatever one you go with i would make sure to stick with a solid bar. They're a little heavier, but it will be much stronger. If you think you need a front sway bar, then something is completely off. A good bit of people run with their front sway disconnected on the track.
Whats the size of the new tires? You can probably find a decent looking wheel for the time-being, but you should really looking into going +1 on the size at least for a summer set. Theres a ton of choices out there in 18s that are lighter than the stock 17s and allow you to run wider tires.
bigrobsa
03-25-2012, 11:08 PM
Stock size...225-45's.
As for the nozzle size, whatever the smallest one that comes with our kits...D03? The D07 is in the box in the garage.
So, a DO1 in the BSH and a DO075 in the spacer. Hmmm...
Also saw a guy do his own DI set-up into his intake manifold, I believe. Although, he went k04, too.
OrangeDUB
03-26-2012, 04:39 AM
www.raderwerks.com for hweels! Also agree with Kaleb on the +1 for size but I can understand already having nice tires and wanting to use them.
For better cornering the first thing I'd do is a rear sway bar. Wouldn't a solid bar be weaker and heavier than a hollow bar? ....like human bones.
Dubtuner
03-26-2012, 10:16 AM
try out do's calculator and it should get you close to what you need. I would just do an upgraded swap bar and maybe some st's or a springs. I prefer coils and alek just put some st's on a customer of his car and really liked em. I put an apr rear sway in a customers and it was a nice product greaseable buschings and what not so not squeekys.

Yes the ST coilover setup i put on a b5 a4 for a guy and honestly it was the first coilover setup i have ever liked.. rode fantastic and improved handling even over the H&R/Bilstein setup i took off of it...
Im rockin a nuespeed front sway and soon a nuespeed rear sway and bracket setup... his had the rear done already and i couldnt believe how much it helped... not sure how much gain you would get out of a stiffer hatch though...

Well, I put in 2.0, 17psi, and 6800 (is that too high?) and came out with 3.11 nozzle size.
But, split between 2, and in different locations, would it change? The USRT guys on the Mk6 site said that they usually (on a single shot setup) put a 1 in the TB.
Dubtuner
03-26-2012, 11:37 AM

What a bunch of awesome car driving, but non-parking, mother****ers, amirite?
61* outside, 29.31in-Hg, 33% humidity, STD 1.01
Run1: 246.00hp/285.86ft-lbs
Run2: 250.76hp/288.03ft-lbs
Run3: 243.97hp/278.04ft-lbs
All were on 93octane tune, as I haven't put on my TB spacer to allow for safe meth spraying. New TB installed on Thursday. Taking drivetrain loss of ~15% into account, the max run = 295.011/338.859 at the crank. :D
It was fun, and good to see that mods are actually doing something.
APR's dyno results, extrapolated for crank hp on their site:
http://www.goapr.com/includes/img/products/dyno/20_tsi_trans/20_tsi_trans_s2_in_tbe_93_cc.gif
Basically, since I wasn't running the race file, the above is basically my set-up but instead of APR exhaust or intake, I have a custom 3" TBE and the much-maligned (on the MKVI site) Forge Twintake.
APR's crank #s: 274/314
using 10% loss like they did, my result came to:279/320.
Big ups to APR and Dubtuner!

Right?!
Or, 2 big turbos. ;)
The APR 10% loss seems to be due to a hub dyno and not a roller dyno, so my initial 15% estimated amounts are probably more accurate.
