Cross your fingers...pending on my basement flooding again, I'm going to host a cookout at my place for the Dubuque GTG this month. Hopefully I'll have better luck this time around. :D

I live on a hill. My GTI didn't have e-brake cables for awhile. Leave it in gear and turn the wheels toward the curb and you'll be fine. lol

Or you can just park it on the street above us which is straight and just walk down. It's not that far.

It would have to be at my place so I can see the pins under the microscope. The close ups before and after would make you shit, plus I have to verify what's bad in the first place and you can['t see it with the naked eye. No prob it takes me about an hour or so in & out the door.

Holy shit dude...that's all it takes? I figured it was an all day job, haha. Andy is pretty confident it's a cluster issue. All my other gauges read fine except for the speedometer and the mileage doesn't tally.

BTW...once it is fixed can the mileage be updated to where it should be? I've been keeping track of my mileage on my laptop. It's a PITA, but it's the only way I can keep track of my mpg's and miles I put on the car.

All I need to do is remove the cluster from the car, take it apart and reflow the main connector and needle power/signal pins, whilst adding additional solder.

I won't try to alter the odometer- I don't know how to, it's a delicate mechanism that (I have heard) are supposed to have a visable trigger that tells people/dealerships at a glance that it's been tampered with. It's also illegal to tamper with the odo. IDK if you can plug into your OBD1, I'm sure Andy could change the coding in vag-com or something.

So Kiel will be attending the GTG for a short time (he has to work at 4). I'll probably be bored and hangin out before the GTG.
