a2 is probly an improvement in the product. Example 1.8t DV's the first ones ended in 710, 710 c , all the way to 710N . Atleast thats my guess

I would agree with Andy it's like a rev update thing.. My mk3's computer was the same way going through the alphabet at the end of the part number. We do the same thing at work too.. I suppose it's somewhat standardized with a lot of companies..
