Only standalone work I have done is my track car but I have not got tuning right on it yet either...I have a friend that is good with tuning but he is on an intership with Lockheed/Martin this semester. If Sublime speed shop in omaha is still around they were pretty good....what ems are you using? Motec, autronic, haltech?

IM ACTUALLY USING 034 MOTORSPORT.. CHECK THEM OUT.. 034MOTORSPORT.COM.. THE UNIT I HAVE IS THE IIC.. YOU CAN CONTROL TIMING AND FUEL.. I HAVE INDIVIDUAL COILS AND 80LB INJECTORS.. THE CAR RUNS BUT IT IS HARD TO START AND RUNS VERY RICH.. BEFORE I GET ON IT (THE THROTTLE) I WANT TO BE SURE IT IS READY.. HALTECH AND MOTECH ARENT TOO FRIENDLY TO THE 6 CYLINDER CROWD.. THE PROGRAM I HAVE YOU CAN RUN 1 TO 12 CYLINDERS..
:D :D hey jeff, he says it runs rich, what do you know about cars running rich.... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha..... big black stains above the exhaust come to mind lol

Haltechs do great on 6s I know quite a few nissan guys that use e11s on RB series 6 cyl engines and motech is the primary standalone for the NSX boys
80 lb injectors are HUGE what the hell do you need that big of an injector for? what is your duty cycle? and what are your pulse durations? and what are your 02 voltages?

I may be able to do a little but I don't know anything about the interface or navigation within the system
as a side I looked at the feature chart and it does everything my Haltech E6X does except I have onboard datalogging and more configurable inputs and outputs
is there a downloadable version of the program to config that thing? I can look at it and see if there is anything I can do...you are also coming into a bad time of year because if you tune it in this weather there is little doubt it will run fucked up when it gets warmer...
a few questions for you
are you running a wideband o2 sensor?
do you have a rising rate fuel pressure regulator?
what type of boost pressure are you running?

i have all the software.. i am running wideband.. i am using a stock type fuel pressure reg.. i also have the rising type. the normal one is installed.. right now i have the 8lb pulley.. i also have the 14lb.. the 8 is installed.. according to the info i have, once you tune the program. it should adjust it self. it reads barrometric pressure, vaccum, coolant temp and wide band..
if you can help any.. i will thank you..

do you know what size the stock injectors are and is there a place I can download the software and see how it looks and how it can be navigated? what wideband are you using and is it running on a seperate gauge or is setup as an input on the standalone?

Ok here we go.............
First and foremost. The 80lb injectors are to much. Way to much man. Unless you are going for 500-600 horse you will dump to much fuel into the motor and begin to wash the cylinders. Washing means all the oil will begin to break down and not provide the lubrication that it needs. A very bad thing. Get smaller injectors and go from there.
Another problem with the bigger injectors is the idle. Idle will be horriable. You will end looking like a diesel at a stop light because you cant control them very well. If its a track car than no worry there, but I dont think it is??
Second, the rising rate fuel pressure regulator. That needs to go. There are to many things going on with the fuel system. Eliminate that and that should help with a few things.
Tuning is really no big deal. There are a few things that you must understand before you begin the process.....
One thing to keep in mind is remember....VW has spent years,,,,years,,,to devolpe a way for timing and fueling to be perfect. You are trying to do something in a few weeks what they have spent years on. Just remember that.
The basic understanding of fuel and timing are important. Im not calling you stupid but I have seen this alot. Once you begin to understand the workings its child play.
034 came with basic maps to get the car up and running. They shouldnt be that far off. I will tell you right know that the idle numbers will have to lowered from where they are.
As timing is increased fuel is decreased. As fuel is increased timing is decreased. You need a Wide Band and a EGT. As temps rise fuel need to be added. If the temps are say...
At 4500 and 6psi...Temps are 1150
You have to much fuel.
If you need more help let me know. I can go on for days.
