Just out of curiosity, is it bad to have wires hooked in straight to where the fuses go? For example i have one running a 12v to my amp for my sub and tonight i added a light inside and put the wire going to the windshield wiper fuse. Will this cause any electrical issues now or in the future? Just wondering because i don't wanna wake up and see that my car is torched due to a "fail" setup.

I think as long as you have the right voltage going to the right wires, you should be ok. It could cause some dashboard lights to come on possibly. My airbag light came on in my GTI after my boost gauge was installed. I just took it to the stealership and they reset the sensor, saying it was ok. I would make sure that you have fuses connected to all the wires that you put into the fuse box. Let the records show that I am no electrician, so please take my advice at your own risk. I'm sure that someone else will have a better answer for ya that is backed by more experience than I have.

yeah thanks for the advice though. I might go pick up a fuse wire and maybe put it on a 15amp. right now i beleive with the wiper's its on a 20? fuse. so well see. but thanks for the tip!

That works fine and they actualy make a fuse adapter that lets you install a wire likethat at thefuse box. The important thing is that you're feeding off the protected side of the fuse. Easily determined by taking the fuse out and measuring with a volt meter or test light which of the 2 fuse teeth has voltage. You wan to tap into the side that doesn't have the voltage.
In all reality though, you should be tapping into ignition wiring bcause it's beefy and won't mind a few more amps of draw. And the amp turn on wire should he connected to the deck's switched wire.

do it right the first time... fuse taps are no better then twist nuts or scotch locks... to add new circuits always install from direct power and add a fuse in line... never try to use more current than a circuit was designed for...

Exactly, that's why I said how to do it that way, but also the right way to do it is exactly how you described Alek.
