View Full Version : introduce yourself
Hey everyone, as PKG grows I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread strictly used for getting to know everyone. I urge everyone to introduce themselves.
holla, I guess that means I should start.... I'm Adam, I started ProjektGerman because I wanted to create more awareness of German Auto in the area and increase the number of GTG's and events accesable to drivers like us:TU:

Hey I'm Stefan, 20yrs old living in Cedar Falls, IA. I went to U of Iowa for a year but just work now, contracted by the IRS. Drive a '99 A4 1.8t Quattro with no mods as of yet, doing all the maintenance over the winter (read: LOTS of maintenance) then the modding begins next spring. GIAC, k04 or t28, supporting, etc. I'm VERY excited there's gonna be a local scene.. I'll definitely be in the GTG threads.

I can get access to ignition wire codes, door lock wires, bypass info, and I have a Vag com. When not at work I am Toting my three girls around to soccer practices or games. Here is a pic of me at Battle of the Imports in Illinois. I was the only VW racing amongst all the Hondas. They could of just called it battle of the Hondas. Another pic is of me at the state DB contest. I am the one in the driver seat. http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/1420/dsc00087lk2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

does this mean you can install car audio? or are good with a soldering iron? lol i need some help (read: someone to do it for me) soldering on some OEM radio plugs onto the severed wire harness in my car. whoever owned it before me snipped the plugs off, so i bought a new set to reinstall. once they are installed i can finally order my adapter harness and put the CD player in my car. its been sitting at my apartment for about a month now...lol

Yeah, I can do it for you. Rather easy actually. I am in the process of trying to fool my car into working with a Viper 791 alarm and car starter. The problem is that the car is basicly one giant computer with a motor. As the cars become more advanced the harder it becomes to install aftermarket things on them. Most of your pro shops you have to be MECP certified. Unfortunately at Best Buy and your local Mom and Pop shops you meerly need a pulse. Best Buy requires you to pass thier certification. Then within 90 days you are supposed to get basic MECP certification, but I do not know a single store that follows that. It wouldn't take long to put your radio in. Let me know when you want it done.

Yo guys, my name is Haime Dias 24(today), i'm originaly form Brazil and came here to go to school in Computer and Electronics Eng, grad in dec06(about a week). I love audis and vw for while, my dad had 81 beatle, than a 87 Gol(kind like a golf but not really), than a 94 santana. Untill i saw my first b5 audi that completely rocked my world. So on my junior year 03, i got myself a 1998.5 A4 1.8tqm, and started the mod fever. soon came to realized i should've gotten a S4, well so i pull the trigger this year in june. now i have a 2001.5 Audi S4 STG-3+ with about 500whp with a list of mods that would take over a page to write them all, my dream car.
If you have any questions about modding audis i have a real good background so feel free to ask.

I'm more than used to it.. hence why I'm doing all the maintenance FIRST on the Audi :D I need this to be reliable-ish. This weekend will be fun, here's the maintenance work for Saturday: timing belt/roller/water pump/tensioner, ac belt, ps belt, alternator belt, coolant flush, thermostat, air filter, valve cover gasket, snub mount, 710n DV and then spark plugs/seafoam/oil change if the stuff gets here in time (don't think it will). If anyone's in the area and you wanna help out, by all means let me know  beer will be supplied.

LMAO!!! Yeah, that would be funny. We did have a swarm at the DB show. They talked me into competing at the last minute in the DB drag competition. I was already there to show what we could do and was entered in the car show. I think everyone was just swarmed around my car to play the 360. I have changed the hatch area completely and removed the 360 since then.
man, an Xbox 360 in the car!?!? i don't even have a CD player hooked up yet, lol.
so since you are a pro-audio installer, do you have a large amount of stereo equipment in your car? or not? myself, i won't be going much farther than getting the CD player in there and replacing some speakers if they're blown. as long as i can hear the music, that's fine with me. i'd rather spend the money elsewhere. ;)

we are working on getting business cars so that if u see an audi/vw that looks like they would be interested and even if they dont u can stick one on their windshield. when we get those itl be really easy to promote pkg. and if i knew more about cars i would totally help non the less i am useless lol. i know alot about audi/vws but not how to do much... dumb i know. anyways...

Loccusst
12-06-2006, 11:07 AM
Yes there is. With the stock MKV head unit you have to get the soft clipping taken care of before you do anything else. I removed the 360 and most of the stuff installed in the back for the car show. It is rather easy to throw everything back in when I do need to go to a show though. I have a home theater set up in my car......yes I watch movies on long trips, mostly movies I have seen so it's more for keeping me awake. I try to not watch action movies in the car.

Do you know how to even remove the stock HU? I'm guessing there'll just be a couple clips I can poke at with really thin screwdrivers and it'll pop out? I had to disconnect my battery while I fixed my headlight switch and lost my security code, need that radio S/N now :(

There is a little tool thingy that goes right into the open slots to release it.
I have no idea what it looks like - I assume you could manage with a small flathead screwdriver. I've been lurking around the Telematics forum on AZ and AW and there is alot of useful info there. I'm not planning on tackling this until late spring or summer. We shall see.

I may not know color codes and I refuse to work with alarms, but if you need a guy that knows his way around some fiberglass or other tricky stuff I may be of assistance. I have built a couple systems in past cars, and judged for USACi for years. I have kind of gotten out of it lately though, I am more of a home audio guy now (finally have pieced together a respectable system at home), but I still have some love for car audio.

Thats what I thought, and it is much easier to get a home stereo to sound good than a car stereo. My 2 channel home system consists of a Rotel receiver, Rotel CD player, Dunlavy speakers and an NHT sub, with nice cables all around. The home theater is a Denon receiver, Rotel DVD player and NHT speakers (some with rebuilt crossovers) and sub.

You guys are HORRIBLE about getting off topic! LOL
SO I can introduce myself....
I'm Josh Angus, (hence the crack in the other thread)
I'm 26, married since Sept 04. I have a 4 month old daughter now. My first car was a diesel rabbit. It was just transportation and I wasn't really into vws untill another guy wanted me to take another gas rabbit off his hands because he was going to send it to the scrapper. In the process of fixing it up I got addicted.
Here is a picture of it in its former glory. I raced autox with it.
http://www.hostdub.com/albums/BlackTie/P4020001.sized.jpg
I sold that about two years ago or something like that and was dubless untill this past fall when I finally convinced a 70 year old guy to sell me his 85 jetta coupe that he was the second owner of, (his nephew was the original).
Here is a picture just after I got it in sept.
http://www.hostdub.com/albums/BlackTie/sept_2006_005.sized.jpg
The gti in the background I bought as a parts car.
It is pretty well completely torn down right now. It should be back together some time in march I am guessing.
So I am more into old school dubs. Since I am married with a little one, my group activities will be pretty limited. Oh and I live in Nevada.

I think J&J can be best described by it's many slogans.
"Not a Damn Thing"
"Adding Class Through Inaction"
"Ferraris, Maseratis, High Life and low lifes"
"drunk and turning wrenches"
"If it's not illegal we haven't touched it yet"
"because it's a loaner"
"beats a reach around from a fat guy"
"Inspiration via power tools and a six pack"
"not the midas touch"
the list goes on, but i hope this clears things up :D

I'm probably the oldest sumbitch here. :D As you can tell from my sig, I have had a few Audis and many cars or trucks. My name is Chuck, I'm in Omaha, but originally from New Jersey. I don't do too many of the GTGs because I'm old, well not that old, but not in the best of health. Long story, blah, blah, blah. I probably would feel out of place with most you people of less years ;) but I'll retire before you all do
I'm just about to turn my TT in and hit a f..king deer while going to work the other day :banghead . It's around $4500 damage and it's being fixed as we speak. PITA, but it could have been a lot worse.
My new A3 should be here any day and I can't wait. I've done mods on all my Audis yet I'm not really a lug nut or mechanic type, but I've been greatly impressed by the German cars.

I'm an ex-football star, I make 2 grand an hour, I can cook the worlds best duck flambe, I drive italian sports cars, and have a red waterbed that puts hugh hefners mansion to shame, I take the pick of the litter girls jockey for me, I'm only here for the game, I dont need these lines to get laid...

Unfortunatley....the ugly SOB is right! Im a whore, then again, aren't we all in one way or another???
Im not sure if Im doing this thread right, or if I'm supposed to respond individually, but that being said... here goes
Tanks to all who welcomed me, you guys do better than Adam, I have to make my wife call to get him to pick up...(thats right, he wants to bang my wife)...you all seem really into your craft which I admiore greatly, and the real reason for which I joined his site, not to whore my business out like some kind of cheesy promoter, Shine Autoworks, that is...1242 Park Ave....5157792608, by appointment only, ANYWAY!!! HA!
But really, I'm an ex dubber, only cuz I have 2.47 kids, a dog, and cant afford a Toureg. So I dig the whole scene, and usually can keep up in any convo that isn't WAY too far over my head...
Any questions or concerns in regard to automotive finishes, feel free to ask, I have alot of success in my life to give advise on, and plenty of f-ups to warn anybody of!!! So feel free to ask...
If you have a scheduling issue, like booking a job, love to take it but please divert it to my homepage on myspace, I check it much more often, and I just want to save as much space on PKG to give it the respect it's due, WHICH IS ALOT!
Good luck to all of you, and remember...GO BIG GO HARD or GO HOME.

Guess I never officially introduced myself in the "introduce yourself" forum, but better late than never, right?:D
As most of you know already my name is Jeremy. I am 26 years of age. I bought my first VW back in October of 2005, my baby, a 2002 VW Passat W8. Funny thing is, I was test driving and almost bought a new Accord coupe. At first when my salesman showed me the W8, I just sat in it and was like, "meh, it's okay." But man, once I took it out on the open road, it was love! I hope to stay in the VW family for a long time...unless I get back into a Jeep :D

Haha, I just figured out the plate. I glanced at it before and didn't really pay any mind to it. Now that I really looked at it I figured out what it said. Very cool. :tu:
BTW, tow hooks FTW! I found mine in the VW spare tire tool bag the other day and thought it was awesome how it screws into the front bumper. Very ingenious of Volkswagen. :D

Hey man, it's all about what you like. If you enjoy it, go for it. No sense in listening to other people trying to bring you down. That's one thing we pride ourselves on over here at PKG (unless one of our members is installing neon underbodies, then we HAVE to step in and steer them in a different direction, lol)

Hey man, welcome to PKG. For a place to find other enthusiasts in your area and several fun outings/events each month, Projekt German is definitely the place to be. Currently we've got about 5-6 cars over in the QC area, including several GTIs, an .:R32, a few BMWs and a Mk4 Jetta.

thats the car. I used to own a V8 RX7 that I built but I sold it a few years back and wanted somthing that didnt suck gas like its going out of style. Always likes VW's and found this one for sale in my area. I can already tell Im be sinking some money into this thing soon.
I'm also a Mod on a local auto forum for the QC. www.qcaaf.com
Looks like a pretty cool forum. Thanks for checking us out. Are there many VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche owners over there?

ok so i typed this once already and my internet ****ed up ARG!
anyway. since you asked i will tell whats up with my passat.
ran fine since i bought it put about 9000 mi on it... the whole time i knew it desperately needed ball joints. so i finally got em for free from vincere on here (thank you very much btw) so i put those in one day at work. everything goes fine nice ride i was all happy for about 12 hours. next day i go to work and the clutch goes out.
order a new one from the part store my work goes through and its two days out at $175. not too bad. so i go home and start workin on my car. i figure about 4 hours to pull... done plenty of clutches and usually pull in about 1.5 hours... allowed for extra time due to the VW and the garage not lift scenario.
so i get the stuff all started and its goin good get to the axle shaft nuts and i dont have the 12 point socket. so done for the first night. get the socket from work the next day and get goin again get the shaft nut off and try my usual method of pushing them back with a lady foot and a hammer. doesnt budge (13 year old car stock shafts... do the math). get the air hammer out and just as it breaks free the end of the shafts basically explode on me. so $100 dollars and i got new ones titanium reinforced... no big deal. move on to the inner and you all know whats comming. in my $35,000 worth of tools never thought i would need a triplesquare socket. . so... done for the second night. next day i buy them from my snap on guy and get goin again. the rest comes apart real easy.
so 4 hours turned into 3 days. next day... clutch comes in and its wrong... right one prices out for $600 i throw a fit and get it price matched and discounted to $160 (go me) so it comes in and i throw it in (didnt machine the flywheel but ive gotten by before without it so no big) get it all put back together and tried to bleed the system. well the slave cylinder is bad and sucking in air. $100 dollars later problem solved. so i drive it to work the next day. clutch is slippin and car is leakin oil like a siv. so by now im pissed
i take it home and pull the tranny again this time in about 3.5 hours. rear main is good oil pan is good but i see four bolts missing from what i believe to be the timing cover (not sure as i cant seem to find a service manual for this damn thing) turns out my buddy who was helpin me pulled them out and didnt tell me YAY. so i get them back in machine the flywheel throw it all back together... oil problem solved and i drive it to IC on a business trip.
just got here and clutch is slippin like crazy! i got a defective pressure plate.   now when i get home i have to take 2 days off work to get my clutch pulled and replaced and put back in for the 3rd ****ING TIME!
so... sorry for the rant but im sure noone wants to join my world right now.
if anyone has any ideas what else could cause this please let me know. i have never had a clutch give me this much trouble and i do this for a living... ive about had it and the next step is a tranny through the windshield. :D

These wheels are called Ikon 046 i guess its a look alike but it was like $1000 for all 4 and staggered with tires.
