Coming from a Ford Focus, where the air filter can last 100,000 miles without cleaning, I had to ask...

What kind of an air filter does Rabbit have? and where the hell is it? I wanna go buy K&N and get that 20hp increase...:word: :finger:

20hp is a bit much... K&N probably found 15hp MAX on one certain car :p either way it'll still be a slight improvement over stock, only ~5hp though I'd assume. Not sure where it is on the rabbit without looking at it but just follow your throttle body down the intake pipe and voila, air filter. By the way, you still need to clean the K&N filter, basically just hit all the crap out and re-oil it. One reason I'm not running a K&N is because if the filter is over oiled then it can drip onto the MAF (at least on my A4) and it'll fry that in a second. They've proven that a stock air filter in the A4 1.8T is effective to over 250hp+ ... why spend $50+ on a K&N when you can get an OEM drop in filter for $10-15?

edit: forgot you were in Waterloo, swing by CF sometime and I can show you how to change your air filter.

Will do. I'm not thinking about spending $50 on a dang air filter lol :D, even if it DOES get me 5-10hp. The most I'm willing to spend is up to $20. But for now, I'm just wondering if the filter has to be changed every so-n-so miles (unline on Focus).

Yeah, you ought to change it every 15K (?) or so. Basically just went it gets dirty....lol

Yeah, they're usually not to thick on I35. I would do 80-85 every day coming down to work in Urbandale from Ames.

You can use an oil type filter......just don't soak the damn thing. That's always the issue.

Yeah, I have access to air compressor, so I can blow it out even if I do.
