Engine Problem...Need Help!!

I swear my dub is out to get me lately...first on the way home from the QC GTG my ECU flips into safe mode and cuts out my turbo. I had to pull over on I-80 and disconnect my battery to reset it, and turn off my APR software.

After I hooked up my DV this week I turned the software back on, and no problems until today. Cruising home from CR, with WOT in 5th gear the turbo was spooling up until I hit about 13psi. Then I experienced some crazy surging, and I heard an odd hissing sound, like air was pushing through a torn hose. I pulled over, again on I-80 and took a look under the engine bay. As far as I could see everything was normal. I pulled back on the interstate, but the turbo wouldn't spool and I could tell I wasn't holding any boost. I took it nice and slow home (only 4 miles) but when watching the boost gauge, any time I would move from vacuum to boost, it made the hissing sound again. I think something is loose or torn judging by the sound of air squeling through a hose or pipe. Also, no CEL ever came on.

Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be? I don't have my jack or tools in Iowa City so I don't have the means to get under the car and check everything out. Thanks

Check the intercooler hose. Check the spring in the DV too.

I don't have any experience with turbo setups, but I would check all your tubing and connections. Make sure to grab an ice cold budweiser in nice weather like this too. damn!

As has been mentioned check the conections. Things need to be funky in order for the ecu to trip a mil. Also, the fact that it is making the noise on boost makes me think you should check everything after the turbo, the boosted side. The noise may very well be the Diverter Valve. You have described the symptoms of a bad DV that the chiped MKV's get.

I took the DV apart this morning, the piston seemed to be working properly. We got it up on the lift this afternoon and the intercooler hose was blown straight off, but no cracks or damage. After reconnecting it I went for little cruise everything was working correctly.

I got my coilpacks, MAF, and spark plugs in the mail today. :D :D

Last night I ordered a set of votex side skirts, 8mm spacers with bolts for the front, a sunglass holder, euroswitch. A good week for the dub!!!
