any euro switch you get will have the rear fog light option since they are required in europe. having it de-activated doesn't hurt anything, it just activates a little green light on the switch itself to say that its on when its pulled on the second "click"
rear fogs are pretty easy to install BTW, so if you really want that euro look, why not? besides they're really handy when the weather is nasty, esp in heavy snow.

Yeah the euroswitch just adds more functionality. How you use it is up to you. What was you initial goal in buying one anyhow?

to be able to just turn my running lights on seperate from the headlights and then have both on at the same time

Yep a euroswitch is your best option then. I have had a euroswitch for a while now and never installed or used the rear fog.. I figure here cops would pull you over for a light out since the rear fog is typically just on the driver's side :p
